Expert Advice - Choosing a Carpet Style

Jim Aaron, our VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, shares some information on the different carpet styles that are available.

Benefits of Carpet

Installing new carpet in your home comes along with several different benefits. Some carpets are great for homes with allergy problems because dust and dirt stay on top so it can be easily vacuumed and stay out of your breathing zone. We also offer stain-resistant carpets that make your life so much easier when the accidental spill happens. We even feature our very own exclusive carpets that feature H2O™ technology that makes them entirely waterproof.

Types of Carpet

Carpet is made out of different types of fibers, and those fibers can impact how a carpet can perform in your home. Synthetic carpet fibers include nylon, polyester, triexta, and olefin. Wool carpets have their own special benefits like being sound absorbing is a naturally occurring fiber so it is sustainable. Piles are the fibers twisted up, which plays a role in the styling of the carpet. There are cut piles, loop piles, and even cut and loop piles.

It is important to find a carpet that is the right balance of performance and style. The most important thing you need to do is choose the right type of carpet. There are five main types: level loop, patterned, textured, frieze, and plush.
